Remus (Remus Bizzi B De Lobo)

remusJonnie Bradley acquired Remus as a companion to Nadya (Czarcreste Nadya), her first borzoi. He matured into a confident, dynamic and powerful dog. He was shown, had earned a few points and a nice four-point major before he was retired.

He acquired a number of nicknames throughout his life: Smiley Dog, Sneaky Dog, Grouchy Dog. He had infinite patience if he thought it would gain him access to a small furry creature. He had encounters with Skunk, Possum, Porcupine, Elk, Horses, Cattle, Pig the Pig, Jackrabbit, and Duchess the Cat. The latter of which won his heart and they became friends - something one would have thought impossible for a dog with such prey drive.

remus and dutchessRemus often slept in the bathtub and loved to be outside in foul weather. He loved to swim and thought he could walk on water, much to his chagrin on a few occasions. He adored Jonnie’s Father who once bought him an ice cream cone at the Dairy Queen while on a walk. They were buddies forever after. Remus hopped around on his back legs in joy when her Father came to visit!

Remus only did that giant bunny hop once before when he hopped the eight-foot bush right behind the Elk who cleared it first - and then he was gone. He could run an elk for miles, always find his way back to you and not have a scratch on him. Once we learned recall was useless when a borzoi is in pursuit, he rarely was off lead. That dog had stamina, that’s for certain. He passed that same dynamic durability and vigor to his daughter, Zena (CH Steppes Moonlight Serenade), when he was mated to Sawa (Czuma Carska Chluba) and again to his son, Aramis (CH Steppes Noble Aramis) from the mating with Sheba (CH Sheba Siren of the Steppes).

Remus was demanding when he wanted attention and irritable when you patronized him. He didn’t like a lot of dialog when he met strangers and he was discriminate. He was patient, tolerant and fearless and a wonderful dog to work with. He would do anything you asked him to do and nothing you tried to force. With Remus, just ask, depending, of course, on who was asking.

Remus was a contradiction. He could be very gamey, and yet he was a devoted father who could hardly wait until his puppies were old enough to PLAY!!
